This week the online travel and food guide TasteAtlas rated Greek cuisine as the third best in the world, of the 100 cuisines they listed. This is an amazing result. I always think that Greek food is under-rated, but it was still a surprise to find that it only ranked behind Italy (1st) and Japan (2nd) in this influential website’s mind.
Eating in Greece is one of the great pleasures of a visit, as I’ve said before in these newsletters. Now it’s official! It made me look a little closer at TasteAtlas, and I recommend it as a good resource for your next visit to Greece. It’s got lots of Greece material on there, like:
30 Traditional Foods You Have to Try in Athens (and where to try them)
Top 100 Greek Foods (a cheese from Naxos is #1)
Where to Eat in the South Aegean
6 Traditional Foods You Have to try in Thessaloniki
And many many more. There are recipes on there too, like this one for Tzatziki, and for one of my favourites, Spanakopita. And general features, like which olives oils to watch out for on Crete.
In short, this has immediately become one of my favourite foodie websites. Now, which wines should we try on our next visit to the Peloponnese?
Yammas!

Been several times to Greece and absolutely love its cuisine. I think what really makes it special is not only the taste, but also the "vibes" around it. Eating Greek food outside of Greece isn't the same to me...
"China"? Would that be like "Europe"?
